LACUSL 199 Independent Study

1-3 cr. Undergraduate.

Independent work under supervision of faculty or academic staff member. For further information, consult the program coordinator.

Prerequisites: 2.0 GPA; consent of instructor, program coordinator, and Assistant Dean for Student Academic Services.

Course Rules: Retakable to 6 cr max.

LACUSL 200 Special Topics in Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx Studies:

3 cr. Undergraduate.

Various topics that integrate the experiences of Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx populations, environments, and/or cultures.

Prerequisites: none.

Course Rules: Retakable with change in topic to 9 cr max. Counts as repeat of LACS 200/LATINO 200 with same topic.

LACUSL 201 Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx Arts and Culture:

3 cr. Undergraduate.

Approaches to the art, literature, and other cultural productions of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Latinx U.S.

Prerequisites: none.

LACUSL 289 Internship-Latin American, Caribbean, & U.S. Latinx Studies, Lower Divison

1-6 cr. Undergraduate.

Application of basic principles of Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx studies in business, organizational, educational, political, or other appropriate setting.

Prerequisites: 2.50 GPA and consent of supervising faculty member.

Course Rules: One cr earned for academic work based on 40 hrs in internship. Retakable to 6 cr max.

LACUSL 296 UROP Apprenticeship

1-3 cr. Undergraduate.

Undergraduate research participation in a project developed with a supervising member of the faculty or staff.

Prerequisites: acceptance to UROP; prior or conc reg in UROP seminar.

Course Rules: One credit for 45 hrs research. Retakable to 9 cr max in any combination of UROP apprenticeship courses.

LACUSL 297 Study Abroad:

1-12 cr. Undergraduate.

Designed to enroll students in 51ÁÔÆæ-sponsored program before course work levels, content, and credits are determined and/or in specially-prepared program course work.

Prerequisites: acceptance for Study Abroad Prog.

Course Rules: Retakable w/chg in topic.

LACUSL 299 Ad Hoc:

1-6 cr. Undergraduate.

Course created expressly for offering in a specified enrollment period.

Prerequisites: none; add'l prereqs may be assigned to specific topic.

LACUSL 300 Advanced Topics in Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx Studies:

3 cr. Undergraduate.

Advanced study of topics that integrate the experiences of U.S. Latinx populations with their countries of origin.

Prerequisites: junior standing.

Course Rules: Retakable with change in topic to 9 cr max. Counts as repeat of LACS 200/LATINO 300 with same topic.

LACUSL 324 Theatre in the Americas: Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Theatre

3 cr. Undergraduate.

Survey of Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx theatre and performance. History and cultures of the Americas that shape these productions.

Prerequisites: junior standing.

General Education Requirements: CD, A

Course Rules: Counts as repeat of LACS 324 or LATINO 324. LACUSL 324 and THEATRE 324 are jointly offered and count as repeats of one another.

LACUSL 489 Internship in Latin American, Caribbean, and US Latinx Studies, Upper Level

1-6 cr. Undergraduate.

Application of basic principles of Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx studies in business, organizational, educational, political, or other appropriate setting.

Prerequisites: junior standing; 2.50 GPA; and written consent of supervising professor.

LACUSL 496 UROP Apprenticeship, Upper Level

1-3 cr. Undergraduate.

Advanced-level undergraduate research in a project developed with a supervising member of the faculty or academic staff. One credit for 45 hours research.

Prerequisites: jr st; acceptance to UROP; prior on conc reg in UROP seminar.

Course Rules: Retakable to 9 cr max in any combination of UROP apprenticeship courses.

LACUSL 497 Study Abroad:

1-12 cr. Undergraduate.

LACUSL 680 LACUSL Senior Research Project

3 cr. Undergraduate.

Independent capstone project for the LACUSL major, integrating Latinx and Latin American/Caribbean perspectives on a topic selected by the student in consultation with their faculty mentor.

Prerequisites: senior standing and declared LACUSL major.
