Through its federal funding mission, the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies (CLACS) supports Latin Americanist/Caribbeanist faculty not only from 51ÁÔÆæ but also from public and private institutions throughout Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin, and the Upper Midwest. This support extends to the Latin American, Caribbean, & U.S. Latinx Studies (LACUSL) administration and faculty. People affiliated with CLACS and LACUSL possess a rich variety of research interests, and the Center is fortunate to have such a tremendous amount of expertise among its members.

CLACS is proud recipient of U.S. Department of Education grant funding to support the advanced study of less-commonly taught languages of Latin America and the Caribbean. This FLAS fellowship (Foreign Language and Area Studies) at UW-Milwaukee is available for both graduate students (summer term) and undergraduates (academic year).
