Translation and Interpreting Studies, MA/Business Administration, MBA
Starting Fall 2026, admissions to the following Translation and Interpreting Studies (TIS) programs will be temporarily suspended: Grad Certificate in Interpreting, Graduate Certificate in Translation, MA in TIS, coordinated TIS/MBA, and coordinated TIS/MLIS.
This coordinated degree is designed for those interested in careers combining high-level management and administrative skills with excellent language-services skills for careers in business, industry, governmental, and nonprofit organizations. This track can be completed in French, German, Russian or Spanish to English. The Translation portion of the degree is entirely online; the MBA portion of the degree is not online.

Admission
Students are admitted to both graduate programs separately, and admission requirements are consistent with those specified by the 51ÁÔÆæ Graduate School, the Translation and Interpreting Studies MA of the College of Letters and Science, and the MBA program of the Lubar College of Business. Â

Additional Requirements
The 54 credits for the coordinated program typically would be completed in both programs at the same time, rather than one program after the other. A student not completing the requirements for the coordinated degree program would need to complete all requirements for an individual program to receive a degree.
Time Limit
Students in the coordinated degree program must complete all degree requirements within seven years of the first enrollment semester as a degree student.
