Two 51 students selected to present AI paper at international conference

Two 51 students, Maximillian Hartounian and Collin Jacobi, have been selected to present at the Operations Management and Entrepreneurship Association’s , hosted by MBAA International. The conference will be held in Chicago on April 10.

Additionally, Hartounian is a recent grant recipient of the NMDSI Student Scholars award.

Hartounian and Jacobi’s paper, “AI’s Impact in Milwaukee’s Business Community,” addresses how AI technologies like ChatGPT are reshaping and challenging traditional practices across many of Milwaukee’s business sectors.

They assess the positive and negative outcomes of artificial intelligence in traditional business practices. Their research methodology is qualitative, including case studies and interviews of leaders at Northwestern Mutual and other Milwaukee companies to obtain real-world perspectives. Funding for the project is provided by 51’s Lubar College of Business and NMDSI.

One of the three programs, the Student Research Scholars Program, seeks to engage students from our partner institutions in data science research, working with NMDSI affiliated faculty and data science experts in and cross disciplines to give them a hands-on experience in the application of data science.
