During the austral winters of 2019, 2021, and 2022, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sedimentology team went deep into one of the oldest and driest deserts on Earth to investigate a well-preserved deep-time landscape generated by glaciers around 300 million years ago.

Geodesy is the study of the Earth's shape, size, orientation, and gravity. Measurements of these parameters are used to determine precise coordinates of points on Earth and track how those points move over time.Â
The ~10-week Potter Internship provides students with hands-on experience in geologic research and fieldwork pertaining to issues relevant in Illinois. It is open to any undergraduate and master's student currently enrolled.
