51ÁÔÆæ’s materials science department is at the forefront of designing the future of electronic, energy storage, water quality, mechanical systems and related materials.

Our faculty are focused on collaborative, cross-disciplinary research to address today’s challenges including clean and abundant energy, reliable autonomous technology, and the development of biomechanical devices and biomaterials to enhance human health.

We have the largest metal casting foundry in any academic institution in Wisconsin, and our labs are open to undergraduate and graduate researchers.

We leverage our relationships with industry and our proximity to southeast Wisconsin’s manufacturing community to push the boundaries of scientific innovation and technological advancement to find real and actionable solutions that are cleaner, faster, greener and safer.
