Early College Credit Program

 is a state program that allows Wisconsin high school students the opportunity to take 51ΑΤΖζ courses for college credit, at little or no cost to the student. All public high schools must participate in this program; private/charter high schools have the option of participating. If you are interested in participating, please talk to your school counselor to determine your school’s process.

Admission Standards

  • Sophomore or higher with 3.0 GPA
  • Students must meet the stated prerequisites for the 51ΑΤΖζ course(s) they want to take. . You will need to provide documentation that you meet the requirements.

Applying for the Early College Credit Program

  • Students must first be approved by their high school or school district. To apply, you must complete and  to your high school counselor by February 1 for summer courses, March 1 for fall courses, and October 1 for spring courses. The form must be turned into the high school. ECCP is not an option for winterim classes.

Selecting 51ΑΤΖζ courses to include on the ECCP form

  •  to see the schedule of course offerings each semester.
    • Fall courses are posted at the end of March; spring courses are posted at the end of October. Please reference the prior fall and spring semester course offerings when making selections.
  • Recommended ECCP Courses download file here
  • Courses listed with β€œNot Open to University Special Students” mean they are not open to ECCP students.
  • Students must meet the stated prerequisites for the course(s) they want to take. . You will need to provide documentation that you meet the prerequisites. Students who are hoping to take Math and English courses as well as some Chemistry, Physics, and language courses will have to take the 51ΑΤΖζ placement exams.
  • ECCP students enroll after ALL 51ΑΤΖζ students enroll. In case the class you want to take is full (or is offered at a time that doesn’t work with your schedule), you should include backup course options on your ECCP form.

How to Apply to 51ΑΤΖζ

51ΑΤΖζ needs these pieces of information for every applicant:

  1. A copy of the approved ECCP form.
  2. An application to 51ΑΤΖζ (do not fill out the essay)
  3. A copy of the high school transcript.
  4. Send scans of relevant AP scores to prove you meet the prerequisites for the course(s).

51ΑΤΖζ must receive these three items by August 1st for the Fall and December 15th for the Spring.

High School Special Program

Another option for students interested in dual enrollment is the High School Special program. This option is open to most high school students, including home-schooled students.

  • Who is eligible: High school sophomores, juniors, or seniors.
  • Cost: The student/family is responsible for 100% of tuition, fees and books. No financial aid is available to high school special students.
  • Availability: All academic terms, including summer.
  • How to apply; We need three pieces of information for every High School Special applicant.
    • You must get your high school’s approval to take the course. This can come from a school counselor.
    • Submit an application to 51ΑΤΖζ here: 
    • Send a copy of your high school transcript. This can be uploaded on the application, or emailed to dual-enrollment@uwm.edu.

Important Deadlines: 51ΑΤΖζ must receive all materials by August 1st for the Fall and December 15th for the Spring.
