51ÁÔÆæ architect’s rainwater fountain enhances Milwaukee Harbor District

51ÁÔÆæ architecture professor James Wasley’s block-long fountain adjoins Freshwater Plaza, a mixed-use building on the northeast corner of First Street and Greenfield Avenue, just across the road from Rockwell Automation.

The fountain in Milwaukee’s Harbor District recirculates rain runoff, cleaning it in the process and keeping more water out of the sewer system.

The project is an example of the 51ÁÔÆæ architecture school’s intense engagement with the community. Plans call for a companion fountain a quarter-mile east in front of 51ÁÔÆæ’s School of Freshwater Sciences. The matching fountains will help integrate the Harbor District into Walker’s Point.
