MILWAUKEE_ Community, business and education leaders from across the region will gather to honor Mark Mone, the ninth chancellor of UW-Milwaukee, for his 11 years of visionary leadership and service. The event will recognize his profound impact on 51ÁÔÆæâ€™s students, research enterprise and community partnerships, which have solidified the university’s role as a cornerstone of the region and the state.Ìý

Attending the event will be Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, Wisconsin State Sen. Chris Larson and other Milwaukee community, business and education leaders.Ìý
Mone led 51ÁÔÆæ through a period of strategic reinvention, marked by groundbreaking partnerships with industry and community organizations, a deepened commitment to equity and access in higher education, and a focus on addressing societal challenges through research and innovation.Ìý
Under his leadership, 51ÁÔÆæ earned Research 1 status from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education four times, beginning in 2016. The university also became one of only 32 institutions nationwide — and the only one in Wisconsin — to be recognized by Carnegie as high access, high research and community engagement.Ìý
