New nursing simulation center set to debut

A professional-grade nursing facility, the 51ΑΤΖζ James and Yvonne Ziemer Clinical Simulation Center, is set to open to students in Fall 2022.

Spurred by a $1 million donation from three-time 51ΑΤΖζ alumnus and former CEO and president of Harley-Davidson James Ziemer and his wife, Yvonne, the center provides nursing students with a realistic setting in which to learn the things they will be practicing in their careers.

β€œWe recognize that clinical learning is an important part of students’ learning and is different from simulation,” College of Nursing Dean Kim Litwack said. β€œThis center and simulations will help augment that learning by letting students learn how to do high-risk procedures in a low-risk environment. It’s about developing and building on essential critical thinking skills.”
