Professor Anastasios A. Tsonis to Receive EGU Medal

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has named Emeritus Distinguished Professor, Anastasios A. Tsonis, as a recipient of next years Division Medal. Professsor Tsonis will receive the Lewis Fry Richardson Medal for his important contributions to the Earth, planetary and space sciences.

Professor Tsonis assisted in the development of the now shuttered Atmospheric Science program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was a professor at 51ÁÔÆæ for 31 years before receiving the title of Emeritus Distinguished Professor in 2016. The European Geosciences Union is Europe’s premier geosciences union, Professor Tsonis will receive the Lewis Fry Richardson Medal during the EGU General Assembly 2026, which will be held from May 3 – 8, 2026.
