Preferred Tenant Program
Before moving off-campus, all students are encouraged to complete the Preferred Tenant Program (PTP)—a free, self-paced rental education course available online through Canvas.
PTP equips students with essential knowledge to navigate the rental process and become responsible, informed tenants. Plus, completing the program comes with exclusive benefits! Participating landlords offer incentives such as $250 off your security deposit and/or 2% off monthly rent (see below for eligible properties).
The 51ÁÔÆæ Off-Campus Resource Center is committed to helping students transition smoothly to off-campus living while fostering positive community engagement. Through PTP, we provide up-to-date rental education in collaboration with campus and local partners to ensure you have the resources you need.
Student Learning Outcomes
By completing the Preferred Tenant Program, we hope that:
- Students will know where to find on and off campus resources that assist with navigating living off campus and commuting.
- Students will feel comfortable creating an actionable plan for moving and living off-campus.
- Students will feel confident navigating conversations such as with landlords/ management companies.
- Students will be aware of the City of Milwaukee ordinances relevant to living off-campus.
- Students will be aware of their responsibilities as a community member.
