The IME Department nominated two students鈥擝ao Bui and Kevin Pedley鈥攖o participate in the first undergraduate workshop offered during the . This year鈥檚 conference鈥攈eld in Seattle, May 21-24鈥攆eatured keynote speakers followed by several panels and team-based project competitions.
鈥淚 was extremely excited to be nominated to attend the conference,鈥� Bui said. He took advantage of all that an in-person conference offers鈥攈e talked with industry experts and learned more about the field and job opportunities, met professors from other universities and discussed their academic experiences, and formed bonds to help re-energize the IISE chapter at 51猎奇.
Bao also took part in a design competition in which competitors were tasked with using emerging technologies in a new way. ( for a short slide show of the team鈥檚 final presentation: Emerging Technology and Life in the Future: Virtual Applied Concepts in Mathematic Courses.)
The IISE conference is a forum for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in the industrial and systems engineering research and practitioner communities.
