51’s first-year Musical Theatre students return to the stage for their spring showcase—an energetic mix of songs, scenes, and storytelling that celebrates their growth and creativity. It’s bold, it’s heartfelt, and it’s the perfect way to cheer on our newest performers!
51 Piano Faculty Elena Abend is joined by violinist Victoria Moreira, clarinetist Orlando Pimentel and violist Doyle Armbrust, in a program highlighting the expressive and rhythmic drive of Latin American composers and their use of expression though different combination of instruments. Exploring works by Paquito D’Rivera, Leandro Coral, Jimenez Mabarak, Irma Urteaga among others.
Join us for a concert-style presentation of original works by composer Lauren E. Spavelko performed by soprano Dr. Jessica Spafford. This program will highlight Spavelko’s art song cycle Baby Book, a deeply expressive set of six songs exploring themes of pregnancy and miscarriage, and possibly include excerpts of other recent compositions depending on availability and programming.
The Florestan Duo, Stefan Kartman, collo and Jeannie Yu, piano perform an exciting program as part of the Chamber Music Milwaukee series featuring music from Bach and Rachmaninoff.

Anthony Di Sanza has performed and presented master classes throughout North America, Asia and Europe. Di Sanza serves as percussion professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison where he was recognized in 2020 with the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship.

Detroit-based ensemble Hub New Music has been called "a prime mover of piping hot 21st century repertoire" by The Washington Post. In its second performance at 51, Hub shares commissioned works for its distinct ensemble of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello.
Miscast is a style of musical theatre cabaret that leans into the comedy of playing outside of one’s preconceived “type.” Think of “Cell Block Tango” from Chicago performed by square-dancing country singers. Come join in the fun as the 51 Performing Arts students play against their “type”!
Presented as part of the Vocal Arts Festival but open to the public, the Vocal Showcase Recital is 75 minutes of solo singing in a wide variety of styles (classical, musical theatre, commercial music, and jazz) from 16 undergraduate 51 voice majors. Chamber Music Milwaukee presents a powerful program exploring music created in times of war, including works connected to the Holocaust and the resilience of the human spirit. The concert features faculty artists Todd Levy (clarinet), Bernard Zinck (violin), Elena Abend (piano), and Jamie Hofman (violin), joined by guest artist Adrien Zitoun (cello) from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
