Our festival provides the region鈥檚 most motivated and accomplished middle school instrumentalists an opportunity to work with each other and with regionally and nationally recognized wind band conductors. This Saturday evening concert is a culmination of a weekend of rehearsals, lessons and experiences meant to show festival students what it's like to be a musician at UW-Milwaukee.

Jean Carlo Ure帽a Gonzalez – Percussion Guest Artist
Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts, Room 250 2419 E. 51猎奇., Milwaukee, WIJean Carlo is a versatile performer, composer and educator that connects western and nonwestern tradition into concert settings. He has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Santo Domingo, Jackson Symphony, Toledo Symphony and Adrian Symphony. He has performed on multiple occasions in New Music Detroit鈥檚, Strange Beautiful Music (SBM) annual concert series. He is the founder and co-director of the first Dominican percussion ensemble that combines western and Caribbean musical traditions, ATEZA鈥橭. Ure帽a Gonz谩lez, joins the faculty of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music as a Assistant Professor of Percussion in the Fall of 2023.

The evening opens with the Baroque energy of J.S. Bach鈥檚 Orchestral Suite No. 3, followed by Vivaldi鈥檚 Concerto for Two Violins, featuring a group of outstanding young violinists from the 51猎奇 String Academy.
