When to\u00a0Declare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You should&nbsp;declare&nbsp;as soon as you decide to major in German. Declaring guarantees accurate advising on&nbsp;course selection and gives you preference in our scholarships, including but not limited to awards to study abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-explore-the-german-major\">2. Explore the German Major<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prospective German majors should\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/world-languages-cultures\/academics\/german-ba\/#tab-german-requirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">read the\u00a0requirements information<\/a>\u00a0for the major. If you have questions, you can make an\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:german-program@uwm.edu\">appointment with the German Program advisor<\/a>\u00a0to get more information.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-submit-the-declaration-of-major-form\">3. Submit the Declaration of Major Form<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To officially&nbsp;declare&nbsp;a German major, fill out and submit the form at the button below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-u-flex uwm-u-flex--wrap uwm-u-flex--left\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-u-mr-20 uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/ls-apps.ad.uwm.edu\/secure\/declaration\/major\/prod\/index.php?departmentFilter=foreign-languages-literature\" rel=\"\">Declare a German Major<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-initial-advising-appointment-to-declare-the-major\">4. Initial Advising Appointment to\u00a0Declare\u00a0the Major<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your declaration of major has been processed, the German Program Advisor will reach out to set up your first advising meeting. At that appointment, the advisor can answer any questions you have as well as discuss your current progress towards satisfying the German major requirements and help you develop a plan to complete any remaining coursework.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
