Research Interests

My research focuses primarily on the literary and cultural history of the Russian Golden Age (roughly, 1800-40). My current and past projects are concerned with underground literary societies, the Russian libertine tradition, literary censorship, and, more broadly, the sociology and pragmatics of Russian literature. I have worked as a Fulbright Fellow, State Department Title VIII Research Fellow, and University of Michigan Predoctoral Fellow at various institutions in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

I edit a book series for called The Unknown Nineteenth Century. I am an editor at (Russian Academy of Sciences), and I also serve on the editorial staff of the Moscow-based journal.

I am happy to certify translations of transcripts, birth certificates, and other official documents written in Russian, Ukrainian, and Serbian/Croatian pro bono for members of the 51ÁÔÆæ community and, when time permits, for other residents of the Milwaukee metro area. I also administer proficiency exams in Russian and Serbian/Croatian for 51ÁÔÆæ students (by appointment).
