But sometimes, unexpected things come up, or not everyone is able to go home for a break.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s normal to feel disconnected, uncomfortable, or even frustrated if you\u2019re not able to go home for the fall break. Whatever the reason, spending this time by yourself can also be a chance to recharge and enjoy a quiet pause before finals begin. If you\u2019re feeling a bit lonely or simply want to make the most of your time away from home, here are a few things you can do over break.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-virtual-quality-time\">Virtual Quality Time\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Many of your friends or family members are just a call away. You can utilize your technology features to make phone calls and stay connected with your loved ones over break. It can be simple as making food at the same time, watching a movie and Face Timing, or even playing online games together. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-heart-of-giving\">The Heart of Giving\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If giving back brings you joy, volunteering locally is a meaningful way to celebrate the Month of Giving. Many organizations support those in need, especially during the holidays. At 51ÁÔÆæ, SET offers a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/set\/community-engagement\/volunteer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">volunteer and community service opportunities<\/a> in the Milwaukee area.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there are no volunteer opportunities available, consider donating to shelters or food pantries, or creating holiday cards for the military and families in hospitals or shelters.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-practice-self-care\">Practice Self-Care\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This upcoming fall break is a great chance to wind down, de-stress, and get in tune with yourself. You may think about that one series you\u2019ve been meaning to binge watch, or that new hobby you wanted to try out! Take this time to get in touch with yourself and reconnect with the things that make you happy!\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many ways to seek comfort away from home. No matter how you\u2019re spending your break, use this time to reflect and cherish the time you\u2019re able to dedicate to yourself. You deserve it after a long semester of hard work.
