{"id":92,"date":"2015-09-29T14:52:37","date_gmt":"2015-09-29T19:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/urban-studies\/?page_id=92"},"modified":"2026-01-02T16:16:59","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T22:16:59","slug":"graduate-research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/urban-studies\/research\/graduate-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"default\">As a reflection of the diversity of interests and expertise in our interdisciplinary program among faculty, graduate students in urban studies pursue a variety of research topics and fields as they progress through the Master\u2019s or Doctoral programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many students in the program present their research at the annual Student Forum or at professional conferences (see profiles below), and students may also submit polished articles to the student-run journal, <em>e.polis<\/em>, or other journals. Project Assistants in the program frequently work directly on research projects with faculty. Graduate research in Urban Studies is supported through a variety of sources such as the Urban Studies Dissertation Research Grant and Travel to Conference awards, Graduate School Dissertation Fellowships, and Honorary Fellow Appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduate-workshops-and-colloquia\">Graduate Workshops and Colloquia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshops and colloquia include workshops given on publishing in academic journals, developing a CV, and writing a thesis or dissertation. Graduate Student colloquia are organized for students who receive research awards or are honorary fellows.
