{"id":6194,"date":"2024-09-16T08:49:40","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T13:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/undergraduate-research\/?page_id=6194"},"modified":"2026-04-06T11:33:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T16:33:16","slug":"symposium-presentation-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/undergraduate-research\/symposium\/symposium-presentation-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Symposium Presentation Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>You can present your work at the Symposium in a variety of formats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading size-h3\" id=\"h-poster-presentation\">Poster Presentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Posters should be a maximum of 44\u2033 X 36\u2033.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please use the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/undergraduate-research\/resources\/poster-creation-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">51ÁÔÆæ poster template provided to ensure the dimensions are correct and the 51ÁÔÆæ logo is present.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We will have a tripod easel and poster board set up for you in the 51ÁÔÆæ Student Union Wisconsin Room. Posters will be attached to the display boards using binder clips that will also be provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The poster session will be from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. All poster presenters will be presenting at the same time. Generally, there are about 200 posters in the room. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please submit your poster for printing to <a href=\"mailto:our@uwm.edu\">our@uwm.edu<\/a> by <strong>the due date April 13th, 2026 <\/strong>as a <strong>.ppt<\/strong> or <strong>.pdf<\/strong> file and title the file <strong>LastName_FirstName<\/strong> <strong>OUR<\/strong>. We will notify you when your poster is ready for pickup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please do not submit your poster using the share button option, or as a link to an upload. This often leads to issues with sharing permissions and can delay printing. Instead, download a separate copy of your presentation, either as a .ppt or .pdf and attach that to your email submission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Poster set-up <\/strong>will be from 4:00-7:00p.m. on April 23rd and 8:00a.m.-9:45a.m. on April 24th.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presenters should be available to discuss their posters on April 24th, 2026 from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Fgt1FsBB9Wc\">Conference Poster Creation Workshop Video<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading size-h3\" id=\"h-oral-presentations\"><strong>Oral Presentations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Oral presentations will be schedule in smaller break-out rooms across the hall from the Wisconsin Room. Four students will be assigned to a room based on presentation themes, to the best of our ability. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presenters are scheduled for a 15-minute block (10-12 minute for a slide presentation with an additional 3-5 minutes for a question-and-answer period).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presentations will be scheduled <strong>9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. and\/or 10:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m.<\/strong> depending on the number of oral presentations. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sessions will be moderated and the time limit enforced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computers attached to digital projectors will be equipped with USB ports for flash drives. Audio will be available in each room. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If additional equipment is needed, please indicate this when you submit your abstract.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please email your slide presentation file to <strong>our@uwm.edu by Tuesday, April 21st<\/strong>. Title the file <strong>LastName_FirstName<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading size-h3\" id=\"h-performing-art\"><strong>Performing Art<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Original performances can include literary readings, theater, music, or dance. Performances can also be a researched interpretation based on an existing work. Performances may be solo or ensemble.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presentations are scheduled for 10-12 minutes with an additional 3-5 minutes for a question-and-answer period. They will be scheduled 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. or 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you will be using slides, please email your slide presentation file to <strong>our@uwm.edu by Tuesday, April 21st<\/strong>.
