Were there special circumstances that may have affected your parking decisions? Below details the steps you can take to appeal a citation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col uwm-l-col--4 uwm-l-offset--1\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-buttons--full\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--full uwm-c-button--icon-right uwm-c-button--icon-arrow uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"http:\/\/uwm.edu\/transportation\/citation\" rel=\"\">Submit a Step 1 Appeal<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<div class=\"uwm-p-tabs\" data-tabs-prefix-class=\"uwm-p-tabs\"><ul class=\"uwm-p-tablist\" data-hx=\"h2\"><li class=\"uwm-p-tablist--item\"><a href=\"#tab-ffsx-step-1-appeals\" class=\"uwm-p-tablist--link\">Step 1 Appeals<\/a><\/li><li class=\"uwm-p-tablist--item\"><a href=\"#tab-ffsx-step-2-appeals\" class=\"uwm-p-tablist--link\">Step 2 Appeals<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent\">\n<div id=\"tab-ffsx-step-1-appeals\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\">\n<p>Step 1 appeals must meet the following three (3) requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Appeals must be submitted online to 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/uwm.edu\/transportation\/citation\">Transportation Services online portal<\/a>. If errors are encountered, an appeal may be electronically delivered to <a href=\"mailto:uwmpark@uwm.edu\">uwmpark@uwm.edu<\/a> with \u201cStep 1 Appeal\u201d in the subject line. Verbal appeals (in person or over the phone) are insufficient to initiate an appeal. Appellants are encouraged to use the <a href=\"http:\/\/uwm.edu\/transportation\/citation\">Transportation Services online portal available<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appeals must be received by the Transportation Services department within ten (10) calendar days of issuance of the parking citation. If the appeal is received after this deadline the citation may, in 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s sole discretion, be upheld.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The appeal should provide any information or documents that the appellant wants the 51ÁÔÆæ appeals officer(s) to consider. Please note that the appeals officer(s) will not dismiss a parking citation for any of the following reasons:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Could not find a legal parking space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did not see posted restrictions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Could not find a convenient parking space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Had flashers\/hazard lights on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did not have money or change for the parking meter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was late or did not have enough time to park properly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was just \u201cdropping off\u201d or \u201cstanding\u201d for a short time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will never do it again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Someone stated it was okay to park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parking in NO Parking Zone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>An appeals officer(s) will review the appeal within ten (10) to fifteen (15) business days of receipt, and a written decision will be emailed to the appellant. If there is no primary email associated with the appellant, a written decision will be mailed to the primary address on record.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"tab-ffsx-step-2-appeals\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\">\n<p>In part, the appellant may initiate a Step 2 Appeal following the following three (3) requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Like Step 1 Appeals, a Step 2 Appeal must be made in writing to 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Transportation Services. Submission of a Step 2 Appeal must be electronically delivered to <a href=\"mailto:uwmpark@uwm.edu\">uwmpark@uwm.edu<\/a> with \u201cStep 2 Appeal\u201d in the subject line. Step 2 Appeals will not be accepted if mailed or hand delivered to the 51ÁÔÆæ Transportation Services office. Verbal appeals (whether in person or over the phone) are insufficient to initiate a Step 2 Appeal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Step 2 Appeals must be received by the Transportation Services Department within ten (10) calendar days of the date on the Step 1 decision letter. If the Step 2 Appeal is received after this deadline, the Step 1 decision may, in 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s sole discretion, be upheld.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Step 2 Appeal must include the rationale for why the Step 1 decision was incorrect. Any information or documents that the appellant wants the appeal officer(s) to consider, the specific remedy sought, and an explanation for such remedy. A appeals officer(s), who is different from the officer(s) who revealed the Step 1 appeal, will be assigned to the case. The appeals officer(s) will review the Step 2 Appeal within ten (10) to fifteen (15) business days of receipt, and a written decision will be emailed to the appellant. If there is no primary email associated with the appellant, a written decision will be mailed to the primary address on record.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 2 appeals are final!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional questions or concerns about the Appeal Procedures may be directed to 51ÁÔÆæ Transportation Services Customer Service management team at <a href=\"mailto:uwmpark@uwm.edu\">uwmpark@uwm.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col uwm-l-col--4 uwm-l-offset--1\">\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-p-card--color-head uwm-u-mb-40\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Recommendations for Appeals<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">\n<p>To ensure a timely response to an appeal submission, the following are a list of recommendations to provide sufficient information for the appeal officer(s).
