Recycling is complex, so depending on the materials, there are different procedures to follow. Click on the programs below to learn more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recycling Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>Hallway Blue Bin Recycling &#8211; <\/strong>Cardboard, Paper, Bottles, Cans<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>This is the most widely available recycling option on campus. Blue recycling bins can be found in most common areas and hallways.<strong> Cardboard, paper, bottles, and cans go into the blue recycling bins. <\/strong>Other materials cannot go into these bins &#8211; please help our one Campus Recycler out by recycling properly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to &#8220;level up&#8221; your recycling, you can learn more tips on our <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sustainability\/services\/reuse-recycle\/campus-recycling\/\">Campus Recycling page.<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Bulk Recycling &#8211; Bulk Paper Recycling Available to 51ÁÔÆæ Departments<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Departments can request special bulk recycling bins to help get rid of large quantities of non-confidential papers, journals, magazines, and reference books. Bulk recycling is a great option for cleaning out offices, emptying storage, supporting retirements, and preparing for moves. If you would otherwise fill an entire hallway recycling bin with papers, consider requesting a bulk bin instead!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about this program on the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sustainability\/services\/reuse-recycle\/bulk-recycling\/\">Bulk Recycling page<\/a>. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sustainability\/services\/surplus\/\">Surplus page<\/a> to learn more or submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sustainability\/services\/surplus\/form\/\">Surplus Declaration form<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Electronics Recycling &#8211; Available to 51ÁÔÆæ Departments<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Electronics are recycled via the 51ÁÔÆæ Surplus program utilizing state-approved electronics recycling vendors. Electronics should never go into the trash or into blue-bin recycling. If your department has electronics &#8211; TV, monitors, computers, old phones, AV equipment, or anything else that uses batteries or wall plug-ins to operate needs to be submitted to Surplus via a <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sustainability\/services\/surplus\/form\/\">Surplus Declaration Form<\/a> for proper recycling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ cannot accept personal electronics. Please review options available for <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sustainability\/services\/reuse-recycle\/special-recycling\/\">Community &amp; Specialty Recycling<\/a> to properly dispose of personal electronic devices.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Batteries, Ink\/Toner Cartridges, Light Bulbs, and Other Universal Waste &#8211; Available to 51ÁÔÆæ Departments<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/environmental-protection\/non-hazardous-waste\/\">Environmental Protection program website<\/a>, part of 51ÁÔÆæ Safety &amp; Assurances for more information about batteries, ink\/toner, light bulbs, oil, sharps, and other materials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Special note:<\/em> most campus printer\/copier machines are leased via the Print &amp; Copy program and the toner cartridges must be recycled through the vendor. Reach out to <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/print-copy\/copier-operations\/\">Print and Copy services<\/a> to learn more.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Plastic Film Recycling<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p><strong>Collection bins are located outside of the Office of Sustainability (AUP 116), inside the Off-Campus Resource Center (Union EG42), at the School of Freshwater Sciences, and at 51ÁÔÆæ Surplus. Additional collection bins are located at all University Housing Residence Halls for resident use.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch the video below to learn more. Follow along for more updates!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important:&nbsp;<\/strong>plastic bags and film cannot be placed in traditional blue recycling bins on campus. Please make sure to bring your plastic bags\/plastic film to a specialty bin location.
