Committees<\/h1><\/header>\n\n\n

Serving on University Committees is a vital and important way in which students impact change on this campus and is where students have the most direct voice in the decision-making process at 51ÁÔÆæ. The Student Association Senate is charged with making committee appointments and taking in reports from the various committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting appointed to serve on one of the many university committees is perhaps the easiest and quickest way to get involved on campus and affect change for students. Furthermore, there is a committee for almost every imaginable aspect of the campus. If you are passionate about any issue or topic related to student life, there is likely a committee for it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Student Association Committees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These committees are organized by the Student Association and chaired by Senators. These committees exist to design and implement projects on campus that better students\u2019 lives. Each committee has a few senator seats and a few at-large seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senate Finance Committee<\/div>
SFC<\/div>
The SFC is a committee of the Student Association, established by the Student Association Constitution, to allocate money from Segregated University Fees. The committee operates as the campus Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee (SUFAC) in accordance with UW Regent, UW- System, and UW-Milwaukee policies.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Student Appropriations Committee<\/a><\/div>
SAC<\/div>
The purpose of SAC is to allocate funds to Recognized Student Organizations which meet the eligibility requirements as defined by the SAC allocation process. SAC funding shall be regarded as supplementary support rather than the sole source of revenue for Recognized Student Organizations.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Green Fund Allocation and Mentorship Committee<\/div>
GFAMC<\/div>
The purpose of the GFAMC is to create a collaborative group between the Student Association, students, faculty, staff, and administration to promote the ideals and practices of environmental sustainability at 51ÁÔÆæ. The GFAMC will also allocate the Green Fund and mentor students to implement approved student-led sustainability projects and initiatives on campus that meet the eligibility requirements of the Green Fund allocation process. This was previously known as the Environmental Sustainability Mentorship Committee (ESMC).<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
The Equitable Accessibility Advocacy Committee<\/div>
EAAC<\/div>
The EAAC exists to identify and address issues related to the accessibility of all students on and around campus. Additionally, this committee intends to advocate for and promote success, support, safety, and inclusivity of students marginalized by accessibility issues. In addition, the EAAC will strive to educate the student body as well as closely communicate and collaborate with the 51ÁÔÆæ Accessibility Resource Center, DREAM, NAMI, and other resource centers that deal with students facing similar issues.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Gender and Sexuality Advocacy Committee<\/div>
GSAC<\/div>
The Gender and Sexuality Advocacy Committee is a Senate standing committee that exists to identify and address issues related to the LGBTQIA+ Community on and around campus and to advocate on behalf of marginalized gender identities and sexualities to promote success, support, safety, and inclusivity. This committee closely communicates and collaborates with the 51ÁÔÆæ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center (LGBTRC), The Inclusive Excellence Center, The Chancellor\u2019s LGBT+ Advisory Committee, the Office of the Dean of Students, and 51ÁÔÆæ administration.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Graduate Student Representation Committee<\/div>
GSRC<\/div>
The purpose of the GSRC is to represent Graduate Student concerns here on campus and to implement projects that advocate for graduate life and academics.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Health & Wellbeing Committee<\/div>
HAWC<\/div>
The purpose of the Health & Wellbeing Committee is to address issues related to student health and wellbeing on campus. The HAWC may choose to focus on issues including, but not limited to, the following aspects of health: physical, mental, intellectual, social, emotional, nutritional, and financial.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Student Association Safety Committee<\/div>
SASC<\/div>
The purpose of SASC is to address issues concerning student safety on campus. This committee shall research the safety needs of students. The committee shall communicate with student organizations, advisors, and administrators about upcoming initiatives, as well as inform them about information relevant to campus safety. The committee shall also take part in the active support of individuals who may have fell victim to hostile living environments \u2013 victims of sexual assault, theft, rape, or other similar tragedies.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Students of Color Advocacy Committee<\/div>
SOCAC<\/div>
The Students of Color Advocacy Committee exists to identify, and address issues related to students of color on and around campus and to advocate on behalf of students of color to promote success, support, safety, and equality. This committee shall closely communicate and collaborate with the other identity centers, Equity and Diversity Services the Office of the Dean of Students, and 51ÁÔÆæ administration.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Student Life and Interest Committee<\/div>
SLIC<\/div>
The purpose of SLIC shall be to facilitate the opinions of UW-Milwaukee students regarding student life, diversity, inclusivity, and issues pertaining to students.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Student Leaders Committee<\/div>
SLC<\/div>
The SLC is a committee that exists to identify and address issues related to student organizations at 51ÁÔÆæ to advocate on behalf of those student organizations to promote communication, broader perspectives, stronger leadership, unity, involvement, and collaboration within and between student organizations to promote a more active and lively student experience at 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Student Transportation Committee<\/div>
STC<\/div>
The purpose of STC is to address issues concerning students\u2019 needs relating to parking and transportation on, to, and around campus. The committee shall liaise with the 51ÁÔÆæ Parking and Transit Office, the faculty Physical Environment Committee, the 51ÁÔÆæ Office of Sustainability, and the 51ÁÔÆæ Administration.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Student Voting Rights Committee<\/div>
SVRC<\/div>
The purpose of SVRC is to promote voter information and civic responsibilities to UW- Milwaukee students related to, but not limited to voter eligibility and registration, election dates, polling locations, accessibility, voter issues presented in a non-partisan manner, and provide knowledge of elected government officials. Further, to encourage the highest possible student voter turnout for all local, state, and national elections.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Women\u2019s Advocacy Committee<\/div>
WAC<\/div>
The purpose of WAC is to identify and address issues related to women on and around campus and to advocate on behalf of women to promote success, support, safety, and equality. This is committee communicates closely and collaborates with the 51ÁÔÆæ Women\u2019s Resource Center (WRC), Equity and Diversity Services, and the Office of the Dean of Students and 51ÁÔÆæ administration.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Intercampus Communications Committee<\/div>
ICC<\/div>
The purpose of the ICC is to allow for communication between 51ÁÔÆæ, Waukesha, and Washington County Student Governments.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Graduate Faculty Committee Subcommittee on Appeals<\/a><\/div>
To advise the Dean of the Graduate School on matters related to student claims of unfair treatment and student requests for exceptions to Graduate School policies.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Chancellor\u2019s Advisory Committee on LGBT+ Advocacy<\/a><\/div>
This committee is devoted to improving climate and diversity by making recommendations related to current and proposed policies and practices that affect LGBT+ employees and students at 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Chancellor\u2019s Advisory Committee on Mental Health<\/a><\/div>
