Suicide Prevention Awareness Day
In recognition of September being Suicide Prevention Month, join the 51ÁÔÆæ community on September 25th for Suicide Prevention Awareness Day. This day is a time to spread hope, raise awareness, show support, and share vital information for those affected by suicide. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.Â
A Night in Guatemala
Celebrate Latine Heritage Month with a night of sounds, stories, and stars! 51ÁÔÆæ Film professor Renato Umali will share his journey to Guatemala that opened his eyes to its vast culture and recent history. The program will include an indoor stargazing session of the night sky followed by the opportunity to ask questions.

Lyrical Sanctuary Featuring Tasneem Jassar
Tasneem Jassar is a Palestinian writer and poet. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Creative Writing bachelor’s degree and a minor in Women and Gender studies. Jassar was also 2024 Woodland Pattern’s Milwaukee Emerging Poet fellow. She hopes that the words she writes and shares, inspire others and give them a deeper insight into themselves and the world they live in. Her poetry often includes themes of motherhood, sisterhood, and Palestinian storytelling.
