Prof. Cary Gabriel Costello is part of team that won Mellon Grant for \u201cLGBTQ+ Audio Archive Mining Project\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3557 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/sociology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/151\/2020\/01\/Tri-Cable-Tonight-screenshot.jpg\" alt=\"Tri-Cable Tonight\" width=\"667\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 51ÁÔÆæ Libraries house one of the largest collections of historical and contemporary LGBTQ+ materials in Wisconsin and the Midwest, including a rich record of Milwaukee\u2019s LGBTQ+ communities. The LGBTQ+ Audio Archive Mining Project will use machine learning tools and data analysis and visualization to build and process text datasets extracted from a variety of AV materials in these collections, including collections of oral histories, local television news and radio broadcasts, and early LGBTQ+ community cable programming.
