Can I still do the online MSW through UW-Milwaukee?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>At this time, we are only accepting applications from students living in Wisconsin and bordering areas to include northern Illinois, eastern Minnesota, and Michigan\u2019s Upper Peninsula.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>What is the cost of the online program, and does the cost differ for in-state versus out-of-state students?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The cost is currently $675 per credit for both in-state and out-of-state students. The advanced-standing program will require 36 credits and the foundation program will require 60 credits. Please note that tuition is subject to university increases. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">My BSW was earned more than seven years ago. Can I still enroll in the advanced-standing program?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Possibly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a BSW earned more than seven years prior to starting the MSW program, but have recent work experience in social work, you may qualify for advanced standing. Please contact Michelle Jurvelin at <a href=\"mailto:willi574@uwm.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">willi574@uwm.edu<\/a> if this applies to you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Can I choose any courses I&#8217;d like as electives in the online MSW program?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The online program does not have all of the same course options that our traditional, on-campus program does. The online program contains a pre-selected set of courses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond our foundation and the advanced curriculum core of direct practice, leadership, policy and evaluation, the courses of the online program taken by all students to satisfy \u201celectives\u201d are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Psychopathology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of Family Over the Lifespan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice Skills and Concepts for Aging and Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trauma I: Theory and Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trauma II: Diagnosis and Treatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>Will the online MSW program meet the educational requirements that qualify me to take the Wisconsin DSPS (Department of Safety and Professional Services) LCSW Exam?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p id=\"jump-here\">Yes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"jump-here\">Our online MSW program includes the courses required by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) to take the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you select a specialization, the LCSW coursework is not automatically included. Work with your advisor to incorporate the clinical courses required for LCSW eligibility into your student plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"jump-here\">If you plan to practice social work outside of Wisconsin, please check with your state\u2019s licensing department for their examination and licensing criteria.
