{"id":4272,"date":"2023-12-05T09:56:37","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T15:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/set\/?page_id=4272"},"modified":"2026-03-26T12:17:53","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T17:17:53","slug":"about-experiential-learning","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/set\/experiential-learning\/intranet\/secure\/about-experiential-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"About Experiential Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ sits in Wisconsin\u2019s urban and economic center, and thus we are surrounded by corporations, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and school systems that can serve as a \u201cclassroom-outside-of-the-classroom\u201d for our students. Further, 51ÁÔÆæ is already deeply rooted in the Milwaukee community, and leads the way amongst Milwaukee institutions of higher education in terms of community partnerships.&nbsp;This positioning offers a real opportunity for 51ÁÔÆæ to become a destination campus for student looking to do various forms of experiential learning such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internships,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practicums,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clinical placements,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service-learning,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cooperatives,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student Artist in Residence (SAIR) Program,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Field placements,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undergraduate research,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>study abroad, and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So much of this currently exists on our campus, however information about these efforts need to be better packaged, tracked, and highlighted.
