Automatic Consent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agenda was approved as presented.
The Minutes of the September 22, 2025 meeting were approved as presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Recap of Recent Communications with SECU \u2013 Overview of UW System Awards (Regents) and Overview of feedback from Academic Staff Senate<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Discussion: Bylaws review & Next steps
    Change the wording (i.e. change \u201cthe following awards:\u201d to \u201cawards such as:\u201d) From Sara\u2019s example: \u201cThe purpose of the Academic Staff Awards Committee is to recognize and celebrate the achievements of 51ÁÔÆæ academic staff through the administration of awards and other forms of acknowledgment.\u201d  Maybe add \u201cas funds are available\u201d or \u201cas available\u201d where necessary. Leaving out the Professional Development Award of the bylaws. The committee could add this back at a future time when this funding is provided again. Motion to approve the revision to the bylaws: \u201cThe purpose of the Academic Staff Awards Committee is to recognize and celebrate the achievements of 51ÁÔÆæ academic staff through the administration of awards and other forms of acknowledgment. Awards may include, but are not limited to, the 51ÁÔÆæ Academic Staff Outstanding Performance and Service Awards, the 51ÁÔÆæ Academic Staff Outstanding Teaching Award, and nominations for the UW System Regents Administrative and Professional Academic Staff Excellence Awards and Regents Teaching Excellence Awards.\u201d Motion by Lisa Brennan, seconded by Renato Umali. Unanimous approval.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Brainstorm Re-envisioning of awards and local recognition opportunities –
    Nominee highlights – People that were nominated for awards being showcased. Could be digital form for peer submissions: peer recognition, campus shout outs. How often would we do it? Quarterly. Marketing – Could be added to the Academic Staff Senate Communications Committee newsletter? Future potential awards could be a part of the Chancellor\u2019s \/ Provost\u2019s emails?Or the Academic Staff Senate communications committee emails?Also reminding Academic Staff to self-nominate for the Provost\u2019s newsletters<\/span>. What is the buy in from Academic Staff Senate? Marketing? Help?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Next Steps – When is the last time this committee created an award? Bringing these ideas and changes up to the Academic Staff Senate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
