Bird-Soto (2026-E)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-charter\">Charter:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a1-35-affirmative-action-in-faculty-employment-committee\">A1.35\u00a0 Affirmative Action in Faculty Employment Committee<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Membership.\u00a0<\/span> Seven members as follows: four Faculty members elected; one member of the University Committee appointed by the University Committee; and ex-officio, the Provost and the Director of the 51ÁÔÆæ Offices of Equity and Diversity Services (EDS).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Functions.<\/span>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To review data provided by the Office of Equity\/Diversity Services on faculty recruitment, promotion, and termination annually as it relates to compliance with Affirmative Action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Informed by the reviewed data, to create an annual report of appropriate recommendations\/actions\/policies where relevant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To submit and present the annual report to the University Committee, Faculty Senate, and Office of Equity\/Diversity Services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Informed by the reviewed data, to conduct reviews into various 51ÁÔÆæ Faculty employment related processes, including hiring, promotion, mentoring, grievance, and retention when appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-meetings\">Meetings:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In total, AAFEC met five (5 times) during the 2024-25 academic year (Sept, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the first meeting for 2024-25 academic year, the committee continued to work on the goals set during 2023-24 academic year. It was agreed that the committee would work on two main goals over the academic year:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating an Evaluation Framework rubric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating an AAFEC Annual Report Template<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Committee continued to work on the above goals during Nov, Dec, and January meetings (drafts available upon request from the 2024-25 chair, Monna Arvinen-Barrow (<a href=\"mailto:arvinenb@uwm.edu\">arvinenb@uwm.edu<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Following President Trump\u2019s revocation of EO11246, and after consulting with the University Legal, the committee had its last meeting in February where they:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Made modification suggestions to the committee\u2019s name and functions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suggested modifications were approved by the committee (3-0-0; Ghose, Mandell).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suggested modifications will be submitted to faculty governance for approval following further guidance from UW-system\/51ÁÔÆæ on Affirmative Action.
