The following committees manage the nomination and selection processes for existing awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Faculty Awards:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/faculty\/standing-committees\/awards-recognition-committee\/\">Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Academic Staff Awards:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/academic-staff\/standing-committees\/academic-staff-awards-committee\/\">Academic Staff Awards Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>University Staff Awards:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/university-staff\/standing-committees\/university-staff-awards-committee\/\">University Staff Awards Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ernest Spaights Plaza Awards:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/faculty\/standing-committees\/honorary-degrees-committee\/\">Honorary Degrees Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Graduate School Research Awards:<\/strong> Committee of Distinguished Professors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Joanne Lazirko Award for Innovative Use of Learning Technologies:<\/strong> Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Awards Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-request-to-establish-new-award\">Request to Establish New Award<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A proposal to establish new awards for the 51ÁÔÆæ Employee Excellence Awards Ceremony must adhere to these guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All awards must have an approved and dedicated funding source that is committed at<br>the time of the proposal for the new award.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proposals for new awards to honor a 51ÁÔÆæ faculty or staff member for exemplary<br>actions that align with 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s mission, vision and guiding values must include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support of a Chancellor\u2019s Executive Cabinet member as a sponsor;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detailed description of the proposed award and supporting rationale, including<br>historical information if another group has recognized award previously; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detailed processes for award nominations including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a description of how each nomination will be evaluated;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>award criteria; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>nomination procedures complete with timelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proposed new awards will be reviewed by one or more of the three governance awards<br>committees, depending on type of award and intended recipient employee group(s):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/faculty\/standing-committees\/awards-recognition-committee\/\">Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/academic-staff\/standing-committees\/academic-staff-awards-committee\/\">Academic Staff Awards Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/governance\/university-staff\/standing-committees\/university-staff-awards-committee\/\">University Staff Awards Committee<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Award Committees will make recommendations to the appropriate governance executive committee (Academic Staff Committee, University Committee, or University Staff Committee) who will transmit the request to the Chancellor for a new award to be recognized at the Annual 51ÁÔÆæ Employee Excellence Awards Ceremony. The recommendation will be made within 30-calendar days of receiving the proposal. The Chancellor\u2019s decision to approve or decline the recommendation is final. A new award must have final approval by February 1st of the year of the event to be included in the current year\u2019s 51ÁÔÆæ Employee Excellence Awards ceremony.
