Up to three awards of $1,500* will be selected by the Academic Staff Awards Committee. The award will be announced in the September issue of the <strong><em>51ÁÔÆæ Report <\/em><\/strong>and will be presented by the Chancellor at the annual 51ÁÔÆæ Employee Excellence Awards ceremony in the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-u-flex uwm-u-flex--wrap uwm-u-flex--left\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-u-mr-20 uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/751\/2026\/01\/2026-AS-Outstanding-Teaching-Award-Nom-Form.docx\" rel=\"\">Nomination Form (DOCX)<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Evaluation<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Nominees will be evaluated on factors such as initiative, innovation, and dedication to teaching and facilitating instruction. Please follow the numerical format listed below and address each criterion under separate headings. Individual letters should not exceed 3 pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The nominee should demonstrate continued excellence in teaching:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;color: initial\">Fostering student motivation and learning<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;color: initial\">Demonstration of classroom effectiveness<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;color: initial\">Innovation in delivery of content<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investment in curricular development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service to the University as it relates to campus\/community\/professional citizenship.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Criteria<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Nominees should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be members of the Academic Staff with a fixed term, probationary, or indefinite appointment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have completed a minimum of four years of service to 51ÁÔÆæ (excluding leave of absence) teaching two courses or more per semester in any combination of the appointments listed in #1 above by January 1, 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not have received an Academic Staff Award (excluding Professional Development Award) in the prior four years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neither nominees, nor members of their immediate family, may be serving a current term as a member of the Academic Staff Awards Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Nomination Procedure<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Nominations may be submitted by 51ÁÔÆæ employees or currently enrolled 51ÁÔÆæ students. The Nominator must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the Academic Staff Outstanding Teaching Award Nomination Form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write a letter of nomination (not to exceed 3 pages). **<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secure <strong>only two<\/strong> additional supporting letters of recommendation on behalf of the nominee (not to exceed 2 pages). **<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform the nominee of their nomination and request their current vitae\/resume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit <strong><u>ONE electronic file<\/u> (pdf preferred) <\/strong>that includes all requested materials by <strong>April 3, 2026 <\/strong>to the Secretary of the University\u2019s Office, <a href=\"mailto:secofunv@uwm.edu\">secofunv@uwm.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>** &nbsp;Nomination letter and supporting letters of recommendation should address all the points listed in the EVALUATION section above to the best of their ability.
