{"id":291,"date":"2025-03-10T15:31:36","date_gmt":"2025-03-10T20:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/registrar\/?page_id=291"},"modified":"2026-03-26T12:15:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T17:15:25","slug":"paws-academic-advisement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/registrar\/faculty-staff-resources\/paws-academic-advisement\/","title":{"rendered":"PAWS Academic Advisement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\"><header class=\"page-header\"><h1 class=\"entry-title heading-separator\">PAWS Academic Advisement<\/h1><\/header>\n\n\n<p>Academic Advisement Reporting serves several purposes within PAWS.&nbsp; In one document, the Advisement Report acts as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A report for School\/College and Registrar\u2019s Office graduation examiners, who use the report in order to clear students for graduation and degree processing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A student-facing Academic Requirements report, which shows the students the status of their progress towards the completion of their degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An advisor-facing Undergraduate Academic Advisement Report (or \u201cUGAAR\u201d) for use as an advising tool or a check of a student\u2019s progress to degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col uwm-l-col--4 uwm-l-offset--1\"><div class=\"content_block\" id=\"custom_post_widget-372\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-buttons--full\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--full uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/paws\" rel=\"\">PAWS<\/a>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--full uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/registrar\/enrollment\/stellic\/\" rel=\"\">Stellic<\/a>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--full uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/registrar\/contact\" rel=\"\">Contact<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-block-otp-nav \"><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-gray uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-additional-information\">Additional Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Other report types are available to advisors, including \u201cWhat If\u201d reports that can explore where students stand in relation to additional or substituted academic plans, reports that do not include in-process coursework, customized School\/College-specific reports, &nbsp;and the \u201cMy Planner\u201d report.&nbsp; If you\u2019d like more information on ways to make use of these reports, please let us know via&nbsp; Quick Links \u201cContact Us\u201d. Requests for access can be made via forms on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/paws-resources\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PAWS authorization website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once updated through PAWS, Data elements used by advisement reports are stored in the university\u2019s data warehouse.&nbsp; See&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/registrar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/125\/2014\/07\/Advisement-Tables-in-the-Data-Warehouse.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Advisement Tables in the Data Warehouse<\/a>&nbsp;for more information.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-white uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-important-notes-on-advisement-reporting\">Important Notes on Advisement Reporting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When accessed by students through their PAWS student center (as in example 1 above), the advisement report is only updated off a previously generated report.
