Often, we see ourselves or people we care about represented in those data sets, sometimes from exceptionally challenging periods of illness or frustration navigating health care systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The human elements of health data require that we handle data with care, taking into consideration:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Who is represented in the data?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Who is the messenger sharing the data?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How data may be (mis)understood and influence health behaviors?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About the speaker:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amanda Makulec is a data visualization leader on a mission to help people make data meaningful. Over the past 15 years, she\u2019s worked in more than a dozen countries coaching teams, designing data visualizations, and building communities focused on communicating data effectively with an emphasis on health data visualization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amanda is a founding board member and former Executive Director for the global<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.datavisualizationsociety.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Data Visualization Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, author of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dashboardsthatdeliver.com\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dashboards That Deliver<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and co-host of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chartchat.live\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chart Chat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
