{"id":2665,"date":"2017-06-16T16:42:17","date_gmt":"2017-06-16T21:42:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/psychology\/?p=2665"},"modified":"2018-12-12T16:08:26","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T22:08:26","slug":"ashleigh-harvey-has-received-a-2017-sigma-xi-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/psychology\/ashleigh-harvey-has-received-a-2017-sigma-xi-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashleigh Harvey has received a 2017 Sigma Xi grant!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ashleigh Harvey was recently awarded a grant-in-aid of research from Sigma Xi, a scientific research honor society.\u00a0 The grant is entitled \u201cA Prospective Investigation of the Association between Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms and Response Inhibition Deficits\u201d and is a part of Ashleigh\u2019s master\u2019s thesis, which she is currently working on under the direction of her advisor, Dr. Hanjoo Lee.\u00a0 Funds from the grant will be used to reimburse study participants, which are to be recruited nationwide through Amazon\u2019s Mechanical Turk platform.<\/p>\n<p>It has been suggested that response inhibition (the ability to inhibit a pre-potent response) deficits may play a role in the etiology and maintenance of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (OCRDs), due to shared features of the disorders related to impulsivity.\u00a0 Extant research examining the role of response inhibition deficits in these conditions has been correlational in nature.\u00a0 Using computerized cognitive tasks, Ashleigh will examine response inhibition and OCRD symptoms across multiple time points to provide better insight into a direction of potential causality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ashleigh Harvey was recently awarded a grant-in-aid of research from Sigma Xi, a scientific research honor society.\u00a0 The grant is entitled \u201cA Prospective Investigation of the Association between Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms and Response Inhibition Deficits\u201d and is a part of Ashleigh\u2019s &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":74,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","uwm_wg_additional_authors":[]},"categories":[49,15],"tags":[34],"class_list":["post-2665","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grad-news","category-news","tag-grad-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.3) -
