Students may, however, take more electives in health psychology or mental health to tailor their program to their interests. Students interested in neuroscience can major in that specialty area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Health psychology<\/strong> focuses on the effects of psychological and behavioral factors on physical and mental health. Recommended courses are:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Psych 230 Social Psychology&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 319 LGBTIQ Psychology&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 320 Psychology of Gender&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 555 Health Psychology&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 578 Race, Ethnicity and Health&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 656 Psychophysiology&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 677 Experimental Social Psychology&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psych 680 Psychology of Aging&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mental health-related courses <\/strong>address psychological disorders, assessment, and treatment. NOTE: You CANNOT become a licensed therapist with a bachelor\u2019s degree; graduate training is required.
