{"id":407,"date":"2020-09-02T08:42:34","date_gmt":"2020-09-02T13:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/prototyping\/?page_id=407"},"modified":"2025-07-15T13:45:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T18:45:21","slug":"cad-design","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/prototyping\/product-development\/design-services\/cad-design\/","title":{"rendered":"CAD Services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"uwm-u-pb-80 uwm-u-pt-0\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left lead-in\">We offer Computer-Aided Design (CAD) services to help turn your idea into a virtual, 3D model.&nbsp; CAD models are the backbone of modern fabrication processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">CAD models can be passed off to manufacturers, turned into fully dimensioned drawings, or used for photo realistic renderings that can be used for advertising or patent applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">At the Prototyping Center we use Solidworks on a daily basis as our primary CAD design software; however, we are also familiar with Autodesk Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, PTC Creo, and other similar programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-computer-aided-design\">What is Computer-Aided Design?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Computer-Aided Design is the use of computers to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design.
