Students&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in the program from the time of acceptance through high school graduation.&nbsp;Participation is&nbsp;required&nbsp;for the&nbsp;six-week pre-college summer program on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Students attend classes according to grade level.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic School Year<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attend monthly UBMS program meeting, academic enrichment and STEM workshops and program activities\/field trips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend monthly scheduled meetings with UBMS advisors to discuss students\u2019 academic performance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students attend after-school tutoring at least&nbsp;one \u2013 four&nbsp;days per week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-week-nbsp-summer-program-nbsp\">6 \u2013 Week&nbsp;Summer Program\u202f&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students attend classes, STEM workshops,&nbsp;and&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in a research project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage in&nbsp;Friday career exploration field trips&nbsp;and&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in community building<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;UBMS&nbsp;6 &#8211; week&nbsp;Summer Program has a residential or commuter&nbsp;option&nbsp;for participants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-white uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-eligibility\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a household income that meets low-income guidelines established annually by the federal government<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a first-generation college graduate; students whose parent(s) did not graduate from a four-year college or university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be in high school (grades 9-12)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Want to go to college after high school graduation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend a target school or be within&nbsp;the target schools\u2019 service area\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Target Schools&nbsp;include&nbsp;Bay View&nbsp;High School, Hmong American Peace Academy (HAPA),&nbsp;Rufus&nbsp;King International&nbsp;High School, Pulaski&nbsp;High School, Riverside&nbsp;University High School, South Division&nbsp;High School, Washington&nbsp;High School of Information Technology&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferences given to students:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In 9th and 10th grade<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With a strong interest in&nbsp;science, technology, engineering, math, or healthcare<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who plan to remain in the program through graduation from high school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who participate in the fall and spring tutoring program twice a week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who participate in and complete the six-week summer program annually<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who attend all workshops, college visits, academic and enrichment activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-gray uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-how-to-apply\">How to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apply to the 51ÁÔÆæ Upward Bound Math &amp;
