{"id":167,"date":"2025-07-24T14:02:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T19:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/precollege\/?page_id=167"},"modified":"2026-04-07T15:44:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T20:44:45","slug":"future-success","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/precollege\/programs\/high-school-programs\/future-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Future Success Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\"><header class=\"page-header\"><h1 class=\"entry-title heading-separator\">Future Success Program<\/h1><\/header>\n\n\n<p>The Future Success Program (FSP) is a program that offers both academic year and summer program components that are designed\u202fto increase postsecondary attendance by ensuring that students meet the admissions requirements for entrance into college.\u202fFSP provides students with the foundation needed to be successful in high school as well as college.\u202fStudents in grades 9-12 will be prepared to complete college prep coursework, registration and completion of the ACT exam, and\u202ftimely\u202fsubmission of college applications, financial aid, and scholarship forms. Students will be provided with academic\u202fsupport through\u202ftutoring, career exploration,\u202fcollege fairs, campus visits,\u202fand study skill development. Students must be committed to\u202fattending\u202fmonthly workshops, classes, and tutoring sessions\u202fduring\u202fthe academic year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col uwm-l-col--4 uwm-l-offset--1\">\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-p-card--color-head uwm-p-card--contact uwm-u-mb-40\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--profile-header\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--profile-header-text\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Future Success Program<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">\n<ul class=\"uwm-c-list--contact uwm-c-list--cleanlist\">\n<li><i class=\"fa-solid fa-envelope fa-fw\"><\/i><a href=\"mailto:lampkins@uwm.edu\">lampkins@uwm.edu<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><i class=\"fa-solid fa-mobile-screen-button fa-fw\"><\/i><a href=\"tel:414-229-5940\">414-229-5940<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><i class=\"fa-solid fa-location-dot fa-fw\"><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.uwm.edu\/map\/locations\/1961\">Mitchell Hall, Room 109<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/precollege\/directory\/?_people_categories_facet=future-success-program\" class=\"uwm-p-card--link\">Staff Directory<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-block-otp-nav \"><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-gray uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-program-dates\">Program Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-academic-year-program\">Academic Year Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Provided to 9th &#8211; 12th Grade Students from October &#8211; May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-services-offered\">Services offered:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic Achievement and Life Skills workshops on select Mondays and select Saturdays&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metro Business Accounting Club on select Wednesdays&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Majors and Careers Exploration&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guidance and Support Services including:&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial Aid&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>College Admission Requirements&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants &amp; Scholarships&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student &amp; Parent Information Sessions&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Academic Support through Tutoring&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exposure to the opportunities and advantages of attending college (i.e., academics, student life, sports, organizations and housing)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunity to&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in at least one college visit a year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-summer-future-success-program\">Summer Future Success Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Provided to 8th-12th Grade Students in July &#8211; August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-services-offered-0\">Services Offered:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A five-week component designed to be an instructional program to introduce students to the coursework they will take in the fall, preparing them for success in the following school year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The basic curriculum consists of Math, Science, English and various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) career\/major areas, including Health Sciences, Nursing, Architecture, Business and Spanish.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students are offered study skill workshops, financial literacy seminars, campus visits and field trips.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tutoring is available for all participants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commuter&nbsp;program&nbsp;and bus tickets are provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students entering 9th &#8211; 12th grade in the fall, who are eligible for free or reduced lunch, are eligible to participate in the summer component.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-white uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-eligibility\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Interest in developing academic and leadership skills. Willingness to commit to the program requirements during the academic year and summer program.
