The <strong>annual reports<\/strong> should be organized to collect information needed for sections 3, 4, 5 and 7.&nbsp; These sections can be customized for individual research centers\/institutes, with approval from the Dean (or Primary Dean, Vice Provost for Research when appropriate).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Center\/Institute History and Goals&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a concise statement of the research center\/institute\u2019s purpose. Include publicly stated vision and mission and comment how they relate to 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s vision and mission.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a brief history of the center\/institute.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the specific goals the center\/institute expects to accomplish and how success is measured in relation to goals (e.g., research expenditures, scholarly output, honorific awards, outreach services).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Organizational Structure and Membership<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the organizational structure of the unit (e.g., leadership structure, reporting structure, location).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a list of participants in the research center\/institute during the six-year review period.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Key Accomplishments<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a bulleted synopsis of the most important accomplishments of the center\/institute during the six-year period (e.g., grants and other sponsored projects received, significant partnerships, workshops and conferences organized, honorific awards).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Assessment of Center Activity and Finances<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assess the activities of the center during the previous six years in relation to the goals&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess and explain any trends in the financial outlook for the research center\/institute during the previous six years.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comment on strengths and weaknesses of the center\/institute.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe how the center\/institute helps researchers become more competitive for external funding&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facilities<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the physical resources of the facility&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Marketing\/Publicity\/Member Recruitment<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe how the activities and services of the center\/institute are made known internally and externally&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comment on the main attractors and benefits that draw the active researchers to associate with the center.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comment on the main detractors and obstacles to active member involvement.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Future Strategic Plans (second last section)<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe and discuss the major strategic goals and planned activities for the next six years.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a bulleted list of issues\/challenges affecting the research center\/institute\u2019s ability to achieve its objectives in the coming years and suggest possible solutions.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the process of assessing user satisfaction with the services or facilities provided, and how those responses are incorporated into the planning process.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other (last section)<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide information not requested elsewhere that you feel is relevant for campus administrators and\/or external reviewers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">Add as relevant following section 6 and renumber subsequent sections&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Core Facilities<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the user demand for your facilities, and your ability to meet that demand&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the process for allocating resources to users&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the availability of training on facility\/equipment use&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Connection to Academic Programs<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the unit\u2019s involvement in undergraduate or graduate education, and relationship of teaching and research within the mission of the unit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss potential opportunities for involvement of other academic programs with the unit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community Outreach<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe community outreach activities (e.g. workshops, training).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Connection to Industry<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discuss the role and performance of the unit in relation to its relevant Industries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Direct Support of Research Projects<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the center\/institute provides direct support for projects, describe the solicitation and selection process, and list projects that received direct support during the past six years.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-supporting-documents-to-be-completed-by-all-centers-institutes-nbsp\">Supporting documents: To be completed by all centers\/institutes&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-attachment-1-listing-of-scholarly-output-for-activities-conducted-through-the-research-center-institute-nbsp\">Attachment 1 &#8211; Listing of Scholarly Output for Activities Conducted through the Research Center\/Institute&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a list of all peer-reviewed publications by year.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a list of presentations at national and international meetings (denote invited talks).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a list of other publications and creative works.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a list of honors received by faculty, staff, and students associated with the center\/institute.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a list of graduate degree recipients whose theses and dissertations were enabled by the center\/institute.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-attachment-2-external-proposal-activity-nbsp\">Attachment 2 &#8211; External Proposal Activity&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a list of external funding proposals submitted through the research center\/institute (or that were within the scope of the center\/institute) during the last six-years. Include lead PI Name, funding agency, grant name, proposal title, budget request, and award outcome (funded\/not funded). If funded, add award amount and duration of funding.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-attachment-3-financial-reports-based-on-uwm-fiscal-year-cycle-use-excel-template-provided-nbsp\">Attachment 3 \u2013 Financial Reports (based on 51ÁÔÆæ fiscal year cycle; use Excel template provided)&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Funding and Expenditures:&nbsp; Enter funding from all sources by fund code\/type, e.g. State General Purpose Revenue (101), F&amp;A (150), General Operations Receipts (136), Gifts (233), Federal grants and contracts (144), Non-federal grants and contracts (133).&nbsp;
