If a student\u2019s PAWS account includes a cell phone number, they will also receive SMS text message alerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For help, see instruction <a href=\"https:\/\/panthers.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/uwmpd-public\/IQCiUt10C93LS5CVUoCsLkuPAUZ-fZP1N4uIOCF2gqPocMk\">guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-faculty-and-staff\">Faculty and Staff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty and Staff are automatically enrolled in the 51ÁÔÆæ Emergency Alert Program through their 51ÁÔÆæ email. Emergencies require urgent action to respond to, lessen, or avert potential impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-are-uwm-emergency-alerts\"><strong>What are 51ÁÔÆæ Emergency Alerts?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A 51ÁÔÆæ emergency alert is any message (text and\/or email) pertaining to an emergency, such as alerts, situational updates as the response progresses, all-clear messages announcing an incident\u2019s conclusion, and post-incident updates or instructions about recovery actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-examples-of-uwm-emergency-alerts\"><strong>Examples of 51ÁÔÆæ Emergency Alerts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Active threat to life safety of the 51ÁÔÆæ campus community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Criminal activity that poses an immediate and significant threat to life, health, and\/or property to the campus community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tornado Warning issued by the National Weather Service\u2013 a tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. There is imminent danger to life and property.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Campus Closed messages due to an imminent weather threat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post-disaster assistance information or relief instructions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alerts for time-sensitive, critical operational incidents like power outages or life-safety equipment failures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uwm-emergency-alerts-are-not-administration-messages\"><strong>51ÁÔÆæ Emergency Alerts are NOT Administration Messages<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An administrative message is any message pertaining to a planned event, such as event announcements, status updates, reminders, and after-event messages.
