Celebrate Black History Month under the stars! Join us for a night of poetry and stargazing featuring Shelly Conley, Milwaukee’s 2025-26 Poet Laureate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shelly Conley<\/a> is a writer, performer, and facilitator whose work inspires healing and empowerment. She is the author of REWIND \u2013 A Cathartic Autobiography and co-author of Freeing \u2013 A Collection of Poems. Shelly also serves as Program Director of My Sista\u2019s KeepHer, where she amplifies youth voices through poetry and positive self-expression. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will include an indoor stargazing session of the night sky followed by the opportunity to ask questions. This event is open to the public. Not recommended for children under 4. No advance registration is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instructions for Attending Planetarium Show<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To attend the planetarium show, check in at the ticket table in the hallway outside of the Planetarium starting as early as 30 minutes before the show start time to reserve your free spot. <\/strong>Seats are first come first serve. We do not accept ticket reservations for free shows in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The planetarium is a theater that projects stars, planets, the Sun, and the Moon on a 30-foot dome. Portions of the show involve complete darkness and may not be suitable for children under 4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doors close 5 minutes after the planetarium show starts. Sorry, no late admissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one wheelchair-accessible entrance via the path between the Physics building and EMS building off Cramer St. (see map below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, our rooftop stargazing deck is not wheelchair accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
