The Sun will reach 90% totality in Milwaukee on April 8. On that day\, the Moon will block 90% of the Sun as the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth and the three align perfectly. \n\nStop by the 51 Union Ballroom and Spaights Plaza to enjoy free food\, music\, crafts\, and of course viewing the solar eclipse (MAP). Students\, employees\, and members of the public are invited to stop by between classes or meetings\, or make a whole day out of it. This is a rain or shine event! Peak visibility is at approximately 2:00 pm on April 8\, 2024.  \n\nWeather permitting\, view the eclipse through eclipse glasses and telescopes outside. Guided by Director Jean Creighton\, this show dives into the basics of how eclipses work and what we learn from them.   \n  \n \n \nEclipse Safety\n\nNever look directly at the sun during a solar eclipse without proper eye protection.\nUse certified solar viewing glasses or solar filters to protect your eyes when observing the eclipse.\nDo not use homemade filters or regular sunglasses\, as they do not provide sufficient protection.\nSupervise children and ensure they also use proper eye protection.\nIf using a telescope or binoculars\, ensure they are fitted with solar filters specifically designed for safe solar viewing.\nDo not attempt to view the eclipse through unfiltered camera lenses\, smartphones\, or other optical devices.\nAvoid looking at the sun indirectly through reflective surfaces like water\, mirrors\, or shiny metal objects.\nTake breaks from viewing the eclipse to rest your eyes and prevent eye strain.\nIf you experience discomfort or vision problems during or after viewing the eclipse\, seek medical attention immediately.\nBe cautious of wildlife behavior during eclipses\, as some animals may become disoriented or behave unpredictably.\nPlan your viewing location in advance\, considering safety and accessibility.
