I am honored to have joined Phi Beta Kappa and look forward to the opportunities that the honor society has to offer. I am beyond thankful for the amazing staff in the Roberto Hernandez Center, especially for my advisor Gabriela Dorantes helping me throughout the years. I could never have imagined the academic success that I have achieved at UW-Milwaukee. I am excited to continue my education and applied to graduate school to attend a master’s program in ABA at Arizona State University. I cannot wait for what the future holds for me in grad school and in my career.

Linguistics

It is an incredible honor to be invited to join Phi Beta Kappa. I have been at 51ÁÔÆæ for two years now, and am currently studying Linguistics, Spanish and Portuguese. It has always been a passion of mine to study languages, and my time at 51ÁÔÆæ has provided me with many opportunties to explore my interests. My goals for the future are to travel as much as I can and teach English or other langauges to non-native speakers.

I would like to thank my family for helping to guide me throughout my college journey, and my friends who continue to inspire me to be the best person I can be. I would also like to thank my Portuguese professor, Susana Maria Antunes, who was one of the first people I spoke to at 51ÁÔÆæ, and who has guided and provided me with many incredible opportunities both regarding language studies and skills for the future. Thank you so much!

Biomedical Sciences with a Pre-Medicine track

I am truly grateful and honored to be given the opportunity to be a part of Phi Beta Kappa. Currently, my intended major is Biomedical Sciences with a sub major in Medical Laboratory Science on the pre-med track. Although this past year has been unpredictable for all, it has proven to be a learning experience and has opened my eyes to new avenues that I can pursue. I particularly have enjoyed being a volunteer of the Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research’s Virtual Tutoring program. I have been able to see that especially during this pandemic young children are the ones whose education has been impacted the most which is why tutoring is so crucial during this time. Along with continuing this, I am looking forward to being a part of a summer research internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin where I hope to explore clinical aspects of research. It is my goal and desire that my education and opportunities from 51ÁÔÆæ will enable me to further my education and one day serve humanity as a physician.

Biological Sciences with a Pre-Physician Assistant track

I’m honored to accept my invitation from Phi Beta Kappa. It’s crazy to think I will graduate next year with a major in psychology and a minor in business administration and Spanish! Time has been flying by! Coming to the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee back in 2018 was nerve-wracking at first, but once I started making connections my experience at 51ÁÔÆæ has been life changing. Making connections, I landed the position as a research assistant for 51ÁÔÆæ Anxiety and Disorders Lab and I became the president of Alpha Lamba Delta. These organizations have enhanced my experience at 51ÁÔÆæ. I’m excited to be apart of Phi Beta Kappa, I know this organization will further me in making connections and enhancing my experience at 51ÁÔÆæ.
