Jeana Holt, PhD, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, APNP
- Associate Professor
Dr. Holt capitalizes on her extensive clinical expertise as a community-based family nurse practitioner and a focused research trajectory to leverage technology and healthcare innovation to reduce health inequities among historically underrepresented and neurodiverse populations. Throughout her career, she has progressed from contributing to complex projects to leading them, consistently developing and evaluating innovative, nurse-led, person-centered, and community-focused programs.
Her strengths include effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and cultivating community partnerships that drive care transformation and improve health and quality-of-life outcomes. Dr. Holt鈥檚 methodological rigor is across research approaches such as participatory action research, implementation science, predictive analytics, and Photovoice. Her current work, rooted in a strengths-based approach, centers on the voices and talents of neurodiverse individuals.

- National Endowment for the Arts-funded Research Lab, , PI and Research Director. Dr. Holt partners with the non-profit organization, , to examine how creativity in art and design serves as a vehicle for preparing populations on the spectrum for the workforce and preparing neurotypical work environments for autistic people.

Wisconsin Partnership Program, Community Impact Grant Level Two: Accelerate,听PI and academic partner. Dr. Holt partners with the non-profit organization, ,听补苍诲 听to implement and evaluate creative technology programs that foster social connection, belonging, and quality of life for autistic high school students. Its goal is to advance health equity by embedding inclusive, strengths-based programming into schools and communities, creating sustainable, systemic change that supports long-term connection and success for autistic youth.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Behavioral Health Workforce Education And Training Program, Investigator, Youth-Oriented Substance Use and Trauma Counseling Program (YOSUT III). Dr. Holt collaborates with Drs. Lisa Berger (PI) and Dimitri Topitzes (co-PI), along with healthcare and community-based organizations, to advance the full integration of behavioral health into service delivery. Through the YOSUT III initiative, clinically-oriented MSW students receive specialized training in dual competencies鈥攕ubstance use and trauma counseling鈥攁nd are placed in high-demand behavioral health settings serving children and youth in areas of greatest need.
- VentureWell鈩�, Empowering Nurse Innovators and Entrepreneurs: A Cross-Curricular Program, PI. Dr. Holt integrates and evaluates experiential innovation and entrepreneurship learning into the existing nursing graduate curriculum to bridge the gap between nursing 鈥楳acGyver-ing鈥� their way through a shift to being trained in skills that support moving an innovative concept to validating a solution.
