{"id":96719,"date":"2021-09-13T09:48:35","date_gmt":"2021-09-13T14:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?post_type=uwmnewsgallery&#038;p=96719"},"modified":"2021-09-13T09:48:35","modified_gmt":"2021-09-13T14:48:35","slug":"thompson-promotes-vaccinations-at-uwm-visit","status":"publish","type":"uwmnewsgallery","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/gallery\/thompson-promotes-vaccinations-at-uwm-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Thompson promotes vaccinations at 51ÁÔÆæ visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UW System President Tommy Thompson came to 51ÁÔÆæ on Friday to promote the UW System\u2019s 70 for 70 campaign and to encourage everyone to get vaccinated for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Accompanied by 51ÁÔÆæ Chancellor Mark Mone and Chief Student Affairs Officer Kelly Haag, Thompson mingled with students at the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/welcome\/event\/welcome-back-block-party\/\">Welcome Back Block Party<\/a>, which is part of 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s two weeks of <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/welcome\/fall-events\/\">Fall Welcome<\/a> festivities.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/70for70\/\">70 for 70 program<\/a>, UW System students who are enrolled for Fall 2021 and report their COVID-19 vaccination via their UW campus portal are entered into a drawing to receive a $7,000 scholarship when their campus reaches a 70% vaccination rate. The program does not include UW-Madison or fully online students.<\/p>\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ students who get vaccinated are also eligible to win laptops, gift cards and 51ÁÔÆæ swag, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.wisconsin.gov\/covid-19\/100.htm\">a $100 gift card<\/a> from the state of Wisconsin.
