51ÁÔÆæ celebrated the inaugural class of Anu and Satya Nadella Scholars at a welcome event recently at the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center. Nine recent graduates<\/a> from Milwaukee high schools were awarded\u00a0full-ride scholarships to study computer science, data science and information technology funded through a gift from 51ÁÔÆæ alumnus and Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella and his wife, Anu Nadella.<\/p>\n

The Nadellas\u2019 $2 million gift supports the Fund for Diversity in Tech Education at 51ÁÔÆæ, which helps the university attract, retain and graduate undergraduate students from marginalized communities, preparing them with the skills to pursue high-tech careers.<\/p>\n

In a video aired during the\u00a0Sept. 15 event, the Nadellas sent heartfelt congratulations. They said the scholarships will support students in Milwaukee by equipping them with the skills and tools to reach their dreams, benefit their communities and inspire future generations of students.<\/p>\n

\u201c51ÁÔÆæ has been deeply impactful in my life and to this day I carry those lessons with me,\u201d said Satya Nadella, who graduated in 199o with a master’s in computer science.<\/p>\n

Applications are now being accepted<\/a> for the 2023-24 class. The deadline is Dec. 1.<\/p>\n
