Several people associated with 51ÁÔÆæ will be part of the 12th annual Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books Nov. 5 and 6 at 51ÁÔÆæ at Waukesha.<\/p>\n
Simon Bronner, dean of the 51ÁÔÆæ College of General Studies, and 51ÁÔÆæ grad Willa Richards will be part of a panel talking about how history inspires their work. \u201cLiterature of the Past \u2013 History Tells our Future,\u201d is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6, and will be moderated by Jonathon Kasparek, a history professor at 51ÁÔÆæ at Waukesha.<\/p>\n
Bronner, dean of the 51ÁÔÆæ College of General Studies, has written numerous works on culture and history and is editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of American Studies online for Johns Hopkins University Press.<\/p>\n
Richards is the author of the novel \u201cThe Comfort of Monsters,\u201d published earlier this year. She completed her doctorate in creative writing at 51ÁÔÆæ in 2019. She\u2019s also a graduate of the Iowa Writers\u2019 Workshop, where she was a Truman Capote Fellow.<\/p>\n
Marlin Johnson, emeritus professor of biology at 51ÁÔÆæ at Waukesha, will moderate the panel \u201cLiterature of Our Planet \u2013 Wrap Our World with Words\u201d from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6.<\/p>\n
The event, a project of the 51ÁÔÆæ at Waukesha Foundation, traditionally brings the community together to encourage literacy, author-to-reader collaboration and creativity through arts and entertainment.<\/p>\n
For the second year in a row, the festival will be streaming through its partners, Books & Company of Oconomowoc and MC Services of Pewaukee. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cPages, Passports & Portals,\u201d will cover programs on travel, nature\/environment, history and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
