Mo Zell, a professor and chair of the architecture department at 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s School of Architecture and Urban Planning, has been named to the Milwaukee Business Journal\u2019s 2021 Women of Influence list.<\/p>\n

Zell<\/a>, who has taught at 51ÁÔÆæ since 2008, was named to the list in the mentor category. The Business Journal honored 28 women overall in the list released this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese women are the cream of the crop of Milwaukee\u2019s professional community,\u201d the Business Journal said in announcing the honors<\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019ve grown businesses, created products, inspired future generations and made southeastern Wisconsin a better place to live and work.\u201d<\/p>\n

As department chair, Zell oversees the only professional program in Wisconsin<\/a> accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board<\/a>. She also has led projects including the school\u2019s externship program, SUPERjury Women in Design Milwaukee<\/a> and the Mobile Design Box<\/a>, an initiative that aims to connect the school and community through a pop-up gallery.<\/p>\n

Zell describes the focus of her research as the confluence of architecture and installation. She is principal of the design and research firm bauenstudio, which has been recognized with design awards from the Boston Society of Architecture, the Boston Society of Landscape Architecture and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. Zell is the author of \u201cArchitectural Drawing Course<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
