University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee nursing student are being offered a $500 tuition stipend for the spring semester if they help out in a health care setting during the university\u2019s winter break.<\/p>\n
The incentive is part of an effort by the UW System to encourage nursing students to help out with health care staff shortages during the pandemic, according to an announcement from UW System. The program also hopes to encourage nursing students to help administer COVID-19 vaccines, which are anticipated to be available soon. The program also gives students experience.<\/p>\n
The UW System has approximately 4,000 nursing students. The stipend is open to nursing students throughout the UW System.<\/p>\n
The tuition credit will offer a new incentive at a time when health care workers are in high demand and as vaccine production is anticipated to accelerate, UW System President Tommy Thompson said in a news release.<\/p>\n
