Renewal of the Clinical and Translational Science Award, a huge grant from the National Institutes of Health, will continue to fund the work of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin<\/a>, a consortium of eight regional organizations dedicated to clinical and translational research and research training. 51ÁÔÆæ is a member of the consortium.<\/p>\n

The five-year, $24.4 million grant will allow the institute to continue accelerating the translation of research discoveries into patient care, bringing new therapies and interventions to patients, improving health outcomes and building training programs and community engagement.<\/p>\n

The institute was founded in 2010 with a five-year $20 million Clinical and Translational Science Award grant and renewed in 2015 with a five-year $22.5 million award. Besides 51ÁÔÆæ, the institute members include the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children\u2019s Wisconsin, Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center, Froedtert Hospital, Marquette University, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

During the past five years, institute service centers have supported almost 1,300 research studies aimed at improving care for children, adults, and older people and veterans. The funding has supported projects in biomedical informatics, essential medical product development, building multidisciplinary \u201censembles\u201d to investigate patients\u2019 unmet needs, and recruitment of research participants for this important national agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
